Paula's Dahlias
Garden Bee Flower Farm LLC has established a logo for Paula’s Dahlias. Garden Bee Flower Farm LLC will be doing business as Paula’s Dahlias in North Carolina now that we are releasing Paula’s dahlia cultivars to the public. Paula’s Dahlias represents me as a dahlia hybridizer and my product line. The logo clarifies what I am offering to the world as I release my dahlias from seed each year. I use the prefix Paula's when referring to my dahlias from seed.
I am very excited to finally have a logo. We purchased our farm in 2015, and I started the cut flower field. I have always wanted a logo. I contacted Vine Creative Designs which is in the Asheville, NC area. I talked to Bronwyn Blenn, and she did an excellent job designing the logo. I love the vibrant colors.

Each dahlia came from a seed and has been grown by me for at least three years or more. While I do send a couple of my dahlia seedlings to the American Dahlia Society Trial Gardens or do an ADS Seedling Bench Evaluation, most of my dahlia seedlings will not as it is very time consuming. The ADS shows involve a lot of traveling as there is only one ADS sanctioned show within four hours of my house (Carolinas Dahlia Society). I stay very busy growing 1700 dahlias from seed and 800 first year dahlia seedlings. I look for strong stems, great bloom attachment and bloom angle, healthy growth, and great tuber production from each of my dahlia seedlings. I enjoy show dahlias; however, I love garden dahlias. There is so much beauty in a dahlia bloom and each dahlia brings you so much joy. I love growing dahlias from seed as each year I do not know what type of blooms I may have that summer.

I am not restricting the resale of my dahlia cultivars through trademarks/royalties or any other means. I do ask that you always use the full name of my dahlia. For example, when referring to Paula's Paul Wix, please use the full name and do not abbreviate it. Please use Paula's at the beginning of the name. I appreciate it.
I know a lot of newly released dahlias are priced at $30.00 to $50.00 per tuber; however, I am charging $24.95 per tuber as I feel that is more affordable for the home gardener. I want you to grow, sell, and show my dahlias. You can charge a higher or lower price if you wish when you sell my dahlias. It is nice to try to keep dahlias affordable for everyone to enjoy.
I am very proud and happy that my first introduction, Paula’s Paul Wix, is listed in the American Dahlia Society 2026 Classification and Handbook of Dahlias. He is classified as 4011, M, FD, BR, BR3. I did an American Dahlia Society Seedling Bench Evaluation at the Carolinas Dahlia Society dahlia show in September of 2025.

A dahlia seedling becomes eligible for this evaluation in its third year. You must enter three blooms, and you want the blooms to be as identical as possible. The entry must be judged by at least two senior ADS judges and not more than two accredited judges. The judges use the official ADS scorecards. Form is worth 30 points and color is worth 20 points. Substance, stem length, foliage, bloom position, and uniformity make up the rest of the points. The judges are evaluating all three blooms in the entry and not selecting one bloom and disregarding the other two blooms. A cultivar must achieve a score of 85 or higher to pass the evaluation. I am happy to say that Paula’s Paul Wix passed the ADS Seedling Bench Evaluation with a score of 89.5. That was an exciting achievement for me. I named this dahlia after my father, and he would be so happy.
Another dahlia from seed that I am very excited is Paula's Divine. This is a seedling going on its fourth year in 2026. I hope to do an ADS Seedling Bench Evaluation with this seedling.

It is a miniature dahlia as the bloom size is only around 3.5 inches across in diameter. Paula's Divine has stayed very consistent and has a lot of petal count. The burgundy color is very dark and has purple tones. The dahlia has beautiful form so I hope it does well at ADS shows.
The below picture is another pink and yellow third year dahlia seedling that has been doing really well during our hot summer. The bloom size is around 5 inches across. These plants are in full sun and not under the shade cloth.

I am currently evaluating Paula's Stella Ann, Paula's Candy, and Paula's Quill. I talk about these dahlias in my blog The Challenges of Growing Dahlias. https://mygardenbee.com/blogs/news/the-challenges-of-growing-dahliasI look forward to seeing gardeners growing and enjoying Paula’s dahlias in backyards across the country. So exciting! I hope you will include Paula's dahlias in your dahlia garden in the future! I appreciate all the support and encouragement.
