Collection: Paula's Dahlias - Seeds

Dahlia seeds from Paula's dahlia field.  Each packet of seeds has 24 seeds from a mix of dahlia cultivars grown in my dahlia garden which offers you a wide range of colors and forms.  I only grow fully double dahlias which are dahlias with multiple layers of petals and a closed center.  I carefully process each seed packet by hand.  Start your seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before your last expected frost date.  Use a seed starting mix, maintain a temperature of 70 to 74 degrees, and keep the seedlings under some type of lighting until you can transplant the seedlings outside after your last frost.  I do have a blog on my website about seed starting.  https://mygardenbee.com/blogs/news/starting-dahlias-from-seed

Dahlias have eight sets of chromosomes so due to the genetics of a dahlia, each seed is unique and may not have the same color or form as the seed parent.  That is why growing dahlias from seeds is so much fun!  Every year, I look forward to planting dahlia seeds and seeing all the surprises during the summer and fall.  A dahlia from seed does produce tubers so you will be able to dig and save the tubers of each dahlia that you would like to keep growing for another year.  I hope you will tag me on Instagram when you post any photos. #gardenbeeflowerfarm
