Paula's Paul Wix

Limited Edition.  Paula's Paul Wix is a bronze formal decorative dahlia.  The bloom size is around 4.25 inches across at maturity.  If you do not disbud, the bloom size will be smaller.  He blooms all summer tolerating our humid summers in North Carolina with great form and a closed center.  I love the bronze color.  When we have very hot and humid weather, some of the earlier blooms can have a slight pink blush.  I like to cut my blooms when the dahlia bloom is about 3/4 open and not fully mature as I love the darker bronze color in the center and the longer vase life.  As the dahlia matures on the plant, he becomes a softer bronze color especially in the fall.

I did enter Paula's Paul Wix at the Carolinas Dahlia Society show in September 2024 and September 2025.  He did win a blue ribbon in the open competition.  Paula's Paul Wix passed an ADS Seedling Bench Evaluation in September 2025 at the Carolinas Dahlia Society show with a score of 89.5 and he was classified as a BB, FD, BR.  I was excited that Paula's Paul Wix is listed in the American Dahlia Society 2026 Classification and Handbook of Dahlias.  I named this dahlia after my father.  My father was a strong, hard working man who loved collecting antique oil lamps.  I was so glad he was able to see my dahlia field before he passed away.  I wanted to name my first dahlias from seed after my parents.  The seed parent was from Blyton Softer Gleam.  I have been growing this dahlia since 2021.  The dahlia grows to around 3 to 4 feet tall.  ADS#3011, BB FD BR.

All tubers are sold as a single tuber with a visible eye.  Tuber orders do not ship until April depending on the weather.  If you live in southern Florida, southern Alabama, and southern Texas, I will try to ship tubers in March depending on the weather.  They are shipped USPS.  I only sell and ship in the U.S.  I do have a checkout & shipping policy on my website.

Remember it can take 1 to 2 seasons for your new dahlia tuber to adapt to its new environment with different daylight hours, climate, and soil conditions.  Be patient as your dahlia becomes established and adjusts to its new home.
